PH Embassy and Community in Chile Welcome Filipino Filmmakers
Philippine Embassy officials and Filipino community members welcome filmmakers from MAVX Production Inc.
SANTIAGO 19 January 2023 – As part of its ongoing efforts to promote and heighten bilateral exposure between Filipinos and Chileans, the Philippine Embassy in Santiago and the Filipino community in Chile welcomed and shared experiences with visiting filmmakers from MAVX Production Inc.—makers of Doll House, Nuuk, Finding Agnes, A Faraway Land and other award-winning features. The MAVX team was composed of Executive Producer Erwin “Lucky” Blanco, Line Producer Kevin Dalugdug, Writer Rona Sales as well as local Chilean partner/producer Juan Harrington of The Production Office or TPO.
MAVX Productions Inc. envisions to shoot no less than four feature films in various parts of Chile, particularly Patagonia in the south, the bohemian streets of Valparaiso, and other world-famous locales in the Chilean capital, Santiago. More importantly, the MAVX advance and research team met with the Filipino community in Chile to learn more about the lives, successes and struggles of overseas Filipinos working and residing in the country, which they plan to highlight and incorporate in their upcoming films. They also shared that they plan to fully tap and involve the Filipino community in various aspects of production in order to support their respective business and service offerings.
Philippine Embassy Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Jim Tito B. San Agustin welcomed the MAVX team and expressed the Embassy’s and Filipino community’s full support for their upcoming projects—especially as these are consistent with the Embassy’s own initiatives to increase tourism flow between the Philippines and Chile, as well as intercultural awareness between Filipinos and Chileans.
The first batch of 20-man MAVX crew is due to arrive and start filming in various parts of Chile by April or May this year.
