PH Embassy in Oslo, Department of Tourism Conducts Briefing on “Bisita, Be My Guest” (BBMG) Travel Incentive Program
OSLO, 19 January 2023 – The Philippine Embassy in Oslo, together with representatives of the Department of Tourism (DOT) office in London, held a briefing for the Filipino community on the “Bisita, Be My Guest” (BBMG), an incentive travel campaign for Filipinos, especially Overseas Filipinos and Overseas Filipino Workers, to invite foreigners to visit the Philippines, in exchange for a chance to win special prizes in three raffle draws from January 2023 to April 2024.
Aside from being able to join the raffle, which include big prizes such as a car, a condominium unit, and vacation packages, Filipinos who register to the BBMG travel incentive program can avail of discounts, special rates, and travel packages using the BBMG Privilege Card and BBMG Travel Passport.
The BBMG Privilege Card allows holders to earn discounts and special promo offers from DOT-accredited enterprises upon presentation of the card. The BBMG Travel Passport entitles holders to earn stamps by visiting at least 2 of the 12 featured destinations (Must-Visit), and doing any of the recommended activities (Must-Do), trying any of the suggested food (Must-Try), and buying any of the recommended local products (Must-Buy). Tourists have to post on social media their photos of their must- visit/do/try/buy, use the special hashtag of the destination, and present their social media post and BBMG Travel Passport at BBMG counters all over the Philippines.
During the BBMG briefing, Philippine Ambassador to Norway Enrico T. Fos shared the positive news that there was a significant number of travelers from Norway who visited the Philippines in 2022, compared to other nationalities who visited the country. There were also more Norwegians who visited the Philippines, compared to their Nordic neighbors.
Ambassador Fos encouraged the Filipino community to continue promoting the Philippines, and bring home family and friends, as what most overseas Filipinos already do. While it is a given that Filipinos already bring tourists to the Philippines, through the BBMG, incentives and perks await both the Filipino sponsor and foreign invitee. The Ambassador also said that participation in the BBMG is a way for overseas Filipinos to help the Philippine economy and tourism industry.
Tourism Attachè Gina Esmaña explained the mechanics of the BBMG, the BBMG Privilege Card, and the BBMG Travel Passport. PDOT London also held a simple raffle of DOT bags with Philippine products for the audience.
