PH Ambassador Ver Presents Credentials to UAE Prime Minister
ABU DHABI 08 February 2023 — Philippine Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Alfonso A. Ver presented his credentials before His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister and Vice President of UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, as the new Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to the UAE, thus formally marking his first official day as Philippine envoy on 06 February 2023.
In a statement he made after the official ceremony, Ambassador Ver expressed appreciation for the country's warm embrace of about a million Filipinos who have made the UAE their second home, residing and contributing towards the country's growth and development for the past 51 years.
Addressing his countrymen in the statement, Ambassador Ver said, "I invite the one-million strong Filipino population in the UAE to be my fellow co-Ambassadors, by continuing to excel in your respective fields of endeavour, thus raising high the Philippine banner in this country you now consider your second home. As your Ambassador, I will continue to explore the heights of our cooperation with the UAE through areas such as space, innovation, advanced technology, sustainable development, defense and the like. Together, we will write anew the narrative of Filipinos in the UAE for the past half decade, from building skyscrapers to reaching into space and beyond."
The Philippine envoy committed to work towards further deepening Philippines-UAE ties by expanding bilateral collaboration across innovative areas, mentioned above. He noted his assumption as Ambassador as timely, and that he will continue to work towards strengthening fraternal ties as the Philippines and the UAE approach the 50th anniversary of the establishment of its diplomatic relations on 19 August 2024.
