Coffee Morning for Spouses of Ambassador and High Commissioners Highlighted “Kulturang Sayawit Ng Pilipino”

KUALA LUMPUR, 13 February 2023 – Madame Ma. Victoria “Vicky” Jose, spouse of Ambassador Charles Jose, hosted the Association of Spouses of Heads of Diplomatic Missions in Malaysia (SOHOM) for a Coffee Morning session on 09 February 2023 at the Philippine Ambassador’s Residence. 

Highlighting the Filipinos’ love for music, the Coffee Morning’s theme “Kulturang Sayawit” or “Song and Dance Culture of the Philippines” featured several performances from the Philippine Embassy’s very own all-female chorale and dance group. 

Guests were serenaded with the chorale’s own rendition of famous Original Pilipino Music or OPM songs – “Isang Lahi”, “Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika”, and “Isang Mundo, Isang Awit”. The guests also enjoyed the dancers’ performance of kundiman song “Sarung Banggi” and modern Filipino pop song, “Tala”. 

The guests were also treated to Filipino delicacies such as biko, puto, palitaw, kutsinta, bibingka, and cassava cake, prepared by Filipina Chef Arlene Diego. Madam Vicky also prepared her home-cooked specialties such as pancit bihon, lumpiang gulay, lumpiang shanghai, coconut macaroons, chicken ala king, banana chocolate cake and pandesal which were well loved by her guests. 

To add to the fun, Madam Vicky raffled off three of her very own floral watercolor paintings and some of her home baked goodies to her guests. 

Once again proving the distinction of Filipino hospitality, the spouses of Ambassadors and High Commissioners based in Malaysia expressed their profound gratitude to Madam Vicky Jose for the excellent hosting and for the wonderful performances of the ladies of the Philippine Embassy. 

The SOHOM is an organization that brings together the spouses of the Heads of Missions whether male or female. The organization also raises funds to support charitable causes. END
