16 June 2014 – In line with its personnel enhancement program, the Philippine Embassy in Mexico commenced its first in a series of museum familiarization tours for Embassy personnel and their dependents last June 13. The series appropriately started with the most visited museum in Mexico City, the National Museum of Anthropology, which is located in the Polanco district of the capital. The museum has 24 halls housing exhibits from the different eras of Mexican civilization.
Philippine Ambassador to Iraq Catalino R. Dilem and embassy personnel were granted the privilege of being part of the exclusive tour given by Dr. Juan Antonio Siller Camacho, a well-respected researcher at the National Institute of Anthropology and History and also a professor at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico.
During the museum visit, Embassy personnel learned more about the rich culture and history of Mexico, including the indelible influences of the Mayan and the Aztec civilizations. END
