PH Embassy in Amman Holds Virtual Meeting with Filcom Leaders in Palestine
AMMAN 13 February 2023 — The Philippine Embassy in Amman led by Philippine Ambassador to Jordan Wilfredo C. Santos held a virtual meeting with the Filipino community leaders in the State of Palestine on 09 February 2023.
It was the first official meeting between Ambassador Santos and the four leaders who are based in Nablus, Ramallah and Bethlehem in the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Santos reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to serve the Filipino community in Palestine, and underscored the importance of holding such dialogues on a regular basis.
The leaders then updated the Ambassador and other Embassy officials of their current situation especially in the light of the recent attacks in Gaza, and the earthquake recorded in Nablus.
The Embassy advised the Filcom leaders to take the necessary precautions at all times and exercise due diligence in dealing with their crucial security situation.
Third Secretary and Vice Consul Sheila Marie Andales, head of the ATN and Consular sections of the Embassy, then updated the leaders of the Embassy’s present projects, including its plan to conduct a series of consular outreaches in Palestine this year. She encouraged them to disseminate the information to other Filipinos this early to enable them to prepare the necessary documents for the said outreach. The Embassy also addressed their consular concerns.
For his parting words, Ambassador Santos thanked the leaders for their unwavering support to the Embassy.
“Kayo po ang kanang kamay ng Embassy. We are thankful for your assistance and for working with us”, Ambassador Santos said.
