Nauru Thanks PH for Contribution of Filipinos, Discuss Future Areas for Cooperation

CANBERRA, 15 February 2023 – Philippine Ambassador to Nauru Ma. Hellen De La Vega and Nauru Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade the Hon Asterio Appi MP discussed the developments in bilateral relations and explored future areas for cooperation during a bilateral meeting held on 10 February 2023 in the margins of the Bali Process Ministerial Conference held in Adelaide, South Australia. The Philippines and Nauru celebrate 55 years of diplomatic relations on 19 February 2023.

The Deputy Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for the significant contributions of the Filipino community to Nauru society and economy. The two officials discussed possible avenues where the Philippines and Nauru may work together, such as on capacity-building and environmental issues. END
