PH Ambassador Lagdameo Receives Miss Universe R’Bonney Gabriel at the PH Mission to the UN in New York

UNITED NATIONS, NEW YORK, 10 March 2023 – Ambassador and Permanent Representative Antonio M. Lagdameo welcomed Miss Universe R'Bonney Gabriel at the Permanent Mission of the Philippines to the United Nations in New York on 06 March 2023. 

Ambassador Lagdameo thanked Ms. Gabriel for her courtesy visit and commended her for her advocacy on empowering women and girls through fashion. Ambassador Lagdameo noted how her Filipino heritage shines through her beauty and intelligence.

“We are pleased and honored to welcome her and to listen to her views on educating and empowering women,” Ambassador Lagdameo said.

According to the Miss Universe website, Ms. Gabriel “is dedicated to using ‘Fashion As A Force For Good’ through sustainability and community impact. She teaches sewing classes to women that have survived human trafficking and domestic violence. The website stated that “As the first Filipino-American to win Miss USA, she shares the importance of embracing one’s culture. As a voice for Asian-Americans, she opens the door for more diversity and representation in society” and her mission is “for women and young girls to see themselves in her, and feel inspired to conquer their goals by owning who they are.” END
