PH Ambassador Wilfredo Santos Presents Credentials to His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan

AMMAN 10 March 2023 — Philippine Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Wilfredo C. Santos presented his Letter of Credence to His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, the King of Jordan, in a ceremony held at the Basman Palace (Royal Palace) on 08 March 2023.
In a brief conversation with King Abdullah II, Ambassador Santos conveyed the President’s message of highest esteem and best wishes for the continued stability and prosperity of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The Ambassador also relayed the Philippines’ gratitude to Jordan for its donation of various military equipment in aid of the country’s counterterrorism efforts, and the Philippines’ commitment to continue its participation in the Aqaba Process and to carry out sustainable measures in fighting terrorism and extremism. Finally, Ambassador Santos expressed the Philippines’ appreciation for Jordan’s magnanimity in providing a second home to the 42,000 Filipino workers in the Kingdom.
In response, King Abdullah II assured Ambassador Santos of Jordan’s continued support for the Philippines and committed to ensure the protection of the Filipino workers in Jordan. Also present from the Jordanian side were the Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, and Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs, and acting Foreign Minister Ibrahim Jazi.
Ambassador Santos was first in the group of 10 ambassadors who presented their credentials according to the order of precedence. Ambassador Santos was accompanied by Third Secretaries and Vice Consuls Angeli A. Payumo and Sheila Marie G. Andales.
Prior to his posting in Amman, Ambassador Santos served as Assistant Secretary and Chief of Protocol, as well as Deputy Undersecretary for UCSCA, at the Department of Foreign Affairs. He previously served as Philippine Ambassador to the State of Qatar and to the Islamic Republic of Iran as well as Assistant Secretary at the Office of Consular Affairs. END
