Filipino Cuisine Make Its Mark in Stockholm with Kanto STHLM

STOCKHOLM 14 March 2023 – Filipino cuisine continues to make its mark all over the world, which now includes Stockholm. On 02 March 2023, the first Filipino bistro in Sweden’s capital, Kanto STHLM, opened its doors to the public. 

This venture is the brainchild of Filipino Chef Elle Phillips and is carried out in partnership with Jade Borday of Noel’s Pop Up. Chef Elle is known in Stockholm for her catering services, “Elle’s Kusina” and for bringing Filipino chocolates to Sweden through Tzokolaté.

Together with a team of Filipinos – composed of Luwie Pascual, Dionam Basco, Jon Tayson, Jane Wong, Arvin Albano, and Jahana Maneze – Chef Elle cooks up contemporary dishes that take after Filipino classics and highlight Filipino elements. Combining some of her favorite Filipino dishes together with locally-sourced ingredients. Kanto is making waves for how it brings awareness to Filipino cuisine and flavors in Sweden.

Kanto STHLM is located in Skånegatan 59, 116 37 Stockholm and is open until December 2023. Filipinos in Stockholm may also order from Kanto STHLM through Uber Eats. END
