PH Ambassador Fos Discuss Further PH-Norway Partnership with Norwegian MP

OSLO 14 March 2023 – Further avenues for bilateral partnerships and strengthening existing ones was the main points of discussion during the meeting of Philippine Ambassador to Norway Enrico T. Fos with Chairperson of the Expanded Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense of the Norwegian Storting (Parliament), Ine Eriksen Søreide on 9 March 2023 at the Stortinget.

Ambassador Fos mentioned that this year is the 75th anniversary of bilateral relations between the Philippines and Norway, and would be a good opportunity to take stock of the relations and look for avenues for more growth, to which MP Søreide agreed, and also appreciated the good relations between the two countries over the years.  

The two officials also discussed present and possible engagements on maritime cooperation, oceans and marine pollution, renewable energy, defense and security, and people to people partnerships, particularly on technical cooperation and exchange of knowledge on these issues.  

The Ambassador and MP Søreide also exchanged views on regional and international issues, such as the war in Ukraine and the situation in the West Philippine Sea. 

MP Søreide is one of Norway’s senior politicians who have served as Defense Minister from 2013 to 2017, and then Foreign Minister from 2017 to 2020.  She is also involved on defense, security, foreign affairs and the European Union committees in the Storting.  END
