PH Blooms with Awards at 2023 Hong Kong Flower Show

HONG KONG 17 March 2023 – The Consulate General of the Philippines in Hong Kong and two other delegates from the Philippines were awarded prizes for their participation at the 2023 Hong Kong Flower Show held at Victoria Park, Causeway Bay.

This year, the Consulate featured Lucban, Quezon’s Pahiyas Festival. The Consulate booth was adorned with everlasting flowers, which are popular and abundant in Baguio City. Flowering plants including the theme flower, “Hydrangea”, and other native elements representing the vibrant and colorful harvest festival were also part of the display.

Consul General Raly L. Tejada received the Consulate’s Merit Award for Unique Feature during the Prize Presentation Ceremony held on 11 March 2023. Other participants from the Philippines, namely World Flower Council (Philippines Chapter) and Blue Grass Project Philippines, also won Grand Awards for Design Excellence and Unique Feature, respectively.

The Filipino Community, led by the Tinikling Group of Migrants, Migrant Ilonggo Cultural Dance Troupe, Global Alliance HK, One Visayas HK and HK Connect, regaled the audience by performing various Philippine folk dances including “Binasuan”, “Sayaw sa Pamaypay”, “Gaway-Gaway”, “Sayaw sa Cuyo”, “Sakuting” and “Tinikling” during the cultural presentation last 12 March 2023.

The Hong Kong Flower Show is an annual event organized by the Hong Kong Leisure and Cultural Services Department and is estimated to attract around 600,000 visitors. With this year’s theme, “Bliss in Bloom”, over 400,000 flowers on display and seventy-two (72) exhibitors from ten (10) countries took part in the show, which will run until 19 March 2023. END
