PH Embassy Booth Visited by Queen Sofia of Spain at 24th Kermes International Bazaar
MADRID, 18 March 2023 – The Philippine Embassy in Madrid joined the 24th Kermes Bazaar, a fund-raising event overseen by the International Association of Diplomats in Spain (AIDE) and works in coordination with the Queen Sofia Foundation to raise funds which will be donated to chosen food banks benefiting undernourished children on 18 March 2023.
To promote Philippine businesses, the Embassy´s booth featured pansit and lumpiang shanghai from Fabiola, which were quickly sold out, as well as kakanin from Sweet Bites Madrid. Items made of Philippine shells, mother of pearl, rattan, and other indigenous materials attracted the crowd's attention. Bayong Republic Madrid, which sources its bags from the Philippines, sold their eye-catching, hand-painted bayongs. Post took the opportunity to promote Philippine tourism sites at the event by distributing tourism brochures in Spanish.
Embassies are invited to participate in the biennial event by putting up booths to sell food and artisanal products, donating items to be raffled off, and providing entertainment during the day-long Bazar. A portion of the Embassy´s profits was donated to support the identified charities of Kermes. END
