PH Ambassador to Belgium Calls on Royal Belgian Shipowners’ Association Managing Director

BRUSSELS, 13 April 2023 – Philippine Ambassador to Belgium Jaime Victor B. Ledda called on officials of the Royal Belgian Shipowners’ Association (RBSA), led by Managing Director Wilfried Lemmens, in Antwerp on 5 April 2023.

Ambassador Ledda took the opportunity to thank RBSA and the Belgian shipping industry for its solid support and confidence in Filipino seafarers. Mr. Lemmens said that the Belgian shipping industry welcomed the decision of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Mobility and Transport to extend the EU’s recognition of PH-issued International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping of Seafarers (STCW) Certificates.

Ambassador Ledda also invited the RBSA to continue sourcing its seafaring requirements from the Philippines and to consider other services being offered in the country, such as shipbuilding and port development.

The RBSA, founded in 1909, represents Belgian ship owners in dealing with authorities and social partners by serving as a dedicated point of contact for the maritime sector. END
