The Provincial Governments of Isabela and Tarlac Express Interest to Cooperate with the Mexican State of Jalisco

MEXICO 13 April 2023 — Governors Rodolfo T. Albano, III and Susan Yap from the Provincial Governments of Isabela and Tarlac, respectively, led a trade mission to the State of Jalisco, Mexico from 22 to 24 March 2023.
Assisted by the Philippine Embassy in Mexico, the delegation met with officials from the Tequila Regulatory Council and the Government of the State of Jalisco. Both sides expressed hope that the visit will provide an impetus to forge closer ties in recognition of the deep historical and cultural affinities shared by the Philippines and Mexico.
In particular, they are keen on exploring meaningful cooperation in the fields of agriculture, economy, innovation and technology, culture, and education. A trade and investment webinar with a business-to-business session may be conducted as a follow-up to the trade mission.
Mexico is the second largest trading partner of the Philippines in Latin America, next to Brazil. In 2022, total trade between the two countries amounted to USD 1.1 billion. The State of Jalisco is one of Mexico's important economic and cultural hubs. With more than 8.3 million inhabitants, the state contributed 7.3% in the country's Gross Domestic Product in 2021. END
