PH Cuisine and Food Products Featured in ASEAN Ramadan Bazaar in Bahrain

MANAMA 17 April 2023 — The ASEAN Committee in Manama, Bahrain (ACMB), composed of the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines and the Embassies of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Kingdom of Thailand in the Kingdom of Bahrain, organized an ASEAN Ramadan Bazaar held every weekend of Ramadan starting on 31 March 2023 until 15 April 2023 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Dana Mall in Sanabis, Bahrain.  The event is being held with the support of the Capital Governorate and Lulu Group, in coordination with events company, Brand Sync.

The Bazaar was formally opened on 07 April 2023, with H.E. Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Governor of the Capital Governorate, and H.E. Shaikh Daij Bin Isa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the ASEAN Bahrain Council (ABC), as the Guest of Honors.  H.E. Ambassador Fatima Abdulla Al Dhaen, Chief of Asian and Pacific Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, and Mr. Juzer Rupawala, Director of Lulu Group International, also attended the event.

The Bazaar features the cuisine and food products from the five (5) ACMB member-countries.  Four Filipino restaurants/food outlets in Bahrain are participating in the Bazaar, namely, Pinoy Turo, which offers a variety of Filipino food such as inasal, pancit, and turon, Paborito with its popular silvanas, adobo flakes, pan de sal sandwiches, and kapeng barako, Shai’s Restaurant with its Cebu empanada and a variety of native sweets, and Grabelicious Donuts.

Aside from the food products at the Bazaar, Lulu also put up an “ASEAN Delights” section, which features products from the ACMB member-countries that can be found in its branches across Bahrain. The Philippine products include bottled sauces and condiments and fresh produce such as bananas, pineapples, mangoes, sweet potatoes, papaya, chili, singkamas and calamansi. END
