SAN FRANCISCO, USA 17 April 2023 – As part of their three-month, coast-to-coast tour of the United States, internationally-acclaimed Filipino choral group,  Philippine Madrigal Singers—also known as the Madz—visited the Philippine Center in San Francisco on 05 April 2023.

During the call at the Philippine Center’s Sentro Rizal, Philippine Consul General in San Francisco Neil Ferrer welcomed the Madz to the Bay Area, and lauded the choral group for their efforts to promote Filipino culture and talent around the world.

“The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco is proud to host the Philippine Madrigal Singers, one of the world-renowned and award-winning singing groups from the Philippines, who have been showcasing the best of Filipino culture and talent to the world for many decades now,” Consul General Ferrer said.

In response, the Madz—led by its longtime Choirmaster Mark Anthony Carpio—serenaded Consulate personnel with classic Filipino songs such as “Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika,” “Paraiso,” “Manila,” and “Bituing Walang Ningning.” The Consulate hosted a merienda cena for the group afterwards.

Accompanying the Madz during the call was Reverend Father Arnold Zamora of Saint Robert’s Catholic Church, which hosted the group’s Easter concert in San Bruno, California on 09 April 2023. The Madz’s other concerts in Northern California was held in Rodeo, Stockton, and Walnut Creek.

Prior to the call on the Philippine Consul General, the Madz joined the Consulate’s daily dual citizenship oath-taking ceremony, where 42 Filipino Americans took their oaths as Filipino citizens, and performed the Philippine National Anthem.
