PH Embassy in Oslo Formally Opens New Chancery

OSLO, 24 April 2023 – The Philippine Embassy in Oslo conducted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on 21 April 2023 to formally open its new Chancery at Nedre Vollgate 8 in Oslo, Norway.
Guest of Honor at the special occasion was Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations and ASEAN Affairs Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro, who was in Oslo to head the Philippine delegation to the 6th Philippines-Norway Bilateral Consultations.
Philippine Ambassador to Norway Enrico T. Fos welcomed Undersecretary Lazaro and Senior Adviser Birgitte Sylthe of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who both joined the Ambassador in the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
This was followed by a blessing of the Chancery officiated by Father Johan Dumandan, Chaplain of the Filipino Catholics in Oslo.
In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Fos conveyed that, “This chancery, the home of all Filipinos in Norway and Iceland, is a testament of the support and assistance that the Philippine government is extending to Filipinos around the world.” He encouraged the Filipino guests who attended the event to unite as a community and be influential in their respective fields and circles of influence.
In her message, Undersecretary Lazaro underscored the importance of the Filipino community and how the Philippine Embassy continuously provides the essential services they need overseas.
Around 80 guests from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ASEAN diplomatic corps and members of the Filipino community also graced the special occasion, which is a part of the celebrations of the Embassy in commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Philippine-Norway diplomatic relations. END
