Philippines’ Indigenous Peoples Featured in Geneva

GENEVA, 26 April 2023 – An exhibit featuring the diverse and rich culture of Indigenous Peoples in the Philippines was launched at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of the Philippines to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva on 19 to 20 April 2023.

Part of an nformation education campaign (IEC) of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), the exhibit features the Project Epanaw’s coffee table books, photos, and other materials that provides information on the vibrant history, practices, art, and textiles of Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) all over the archipelago. 

The NCIP’s Project Epanaw generally aims to strengthen the recognition, respect, promotion, protection, and fulfillment of the of the rights, and cultural sensitivity of Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) in the Philippines. 

The IEC booth/exhibit is displayed at the lobby of the Philippine Chancery, for viewing of the Filipino Community and other guests of the Permanent Mission throughout the month of April. The NCIP engaged in a Constructive Dialogue with the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on 19-20 April 2023 in Geneva. END
