Resident Election Registration Board Convenes First Public Hearing, Approves 256 Abu Dhabi-Based Overseas Voter

ABU DHABI 28 April 2023 – Members of the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi’s Resident Election Registration Board (RERB) convened its first Public Hearing for the 2022-2025 National and Local Elections cycle, and approved the registration of 256 Overseas Voters based in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, UAE. The said petitions for registration, filed between 09 December 2022 and 31 March 2023, were vetted and reviewed by the RERB prior to approval.

“The Embassy continues to call on all our eligible kababayan in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to register/ update their records for Overseas Voting, so that they may properly exercise our Constitutionally-guaranteed right to vote and elect our leaders for public office. For our part, the Overseas Voting Secretariat composed of the RERB and other Embassy personnel dedicated to facilitating Overseas Voting at post, commit to perform our duties with integrity and professionalism in the interest of ensuring and safeguarding the right to suffrage of every Filipino within our jurisdiction,” said Third Secretary and Vice Consul Kevin Mark Gomez, Chairperson of the Abu Dhabi PE RERB.

Public hearings will be conducted at least once every quarter, following the relevant period of application until the last day for registration on 30 September 2024. END
