PH Energy Delegation Successfully Engages Denmark on Wind Development

COPENHAGEN, 03 May 2023 – Philippine Ambassador to Denmark Leo M. Herrera-Lim hosted a reception in honor of Energy Secretary Raphael P.M. Lotilla and the Philippine delegation to Denmark. The delegation met with policymakers, investors and companies operating in the offshore wind sector on 24 to 28 April 2023. They also attended the WindEurope Conference in Copenhagen upon invitation from the Danish Government.
Ambassador Leo M. Herrera-Lim expressed “We have made significant strides in recent years towards our clean energy goals but there is a felt need to take bolder and more decisive action to hasten the Philippines’ transition towards clean and renewable energy. We need to build on our successes and accelerate the deployment of offshore wind solutions. The private sector is a critical partner in our efforts to reach the country’s climate targets and transition to green energy.”
During their visit to Denmark, delegates were given the opportunity to discuss and learn from key agencies of their best practices and latest initiatives on offshore wind regulation, energy auctions, innovations on grid transmission and supply, upscaling of port infrastructures, integration of variable RE (VRE) technologies, energy storage systems and development of small modular reactors (SMR) on nuclear power ventures.
The delegation was composed of officials from the Department of Energy, Energy Regulatory Commission, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority and representatives from Philippine renewable energy companies and organizations - ACEN, Citicore Renewable Energy Corporation, Corio Generation, CleanTech Global Renewables, Inc., PetroGreen Energy Corporation, Sunwest Water and Electric Company, Total Power, Inc., Shell Philippines and AlterEnergy Holdings Corporation.
Danish firms Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Copenhagen Energy also attended the reception. END
