PH Embassy, Filipino Community Feature Jeepney, Tinikling Dance in Turkish National Sovereignty and Children’s Day

ANKARA, 05 May 2023 – The Philippine Embassy and Sentro Rizal Ankara, led by Chargé d’affaires Juan E. Dayang Jr., celebrated Türkiye’s celebration of its annual National Sovereignty and Children’s Day, with its participation at Cankaya Municipality’s opening ceremony of its week-long activities on 24 April 2023.
Kindergarten students from Çankaya performed at the opening, which was attended by Municipality officials, Diplomatic Mission representatives, and other visitors. Cankaya Deputy Mayor K. Gülsün Bor Güner and Mr. Umut Berker Sevilmiş, Director for Foreign Relations, graced the event. The children were given a Philippine cultural immersion activity by introducing the colorful Philippine Jeepney, which includes a video presentation, 3D Jeepney paper crafts, a jeepney photo booth, and a sampling of Philippine sweet treats pulvoron and chocnut candies.

Furthermore, the Philippine Embassy participated in the Gala Night of National Sovereignty and Children’s Day on 28 April 2023, the culmination of a week-long celebration of Türkiyé’s important holiday. The event, organized byÇankaya Municipality, highlighted the cultural performances of participating Embassies, including the Philippines’ traditional Tinikling dance, performed by the members of the Filipino community in Ankara.
The occasion was attended by municipality officials, the diplomatic community, and other guests, including Cankaya’s Mayor Mr. Alper Taşdelen as the guest of honor. Kindergarten students of Çankaya Municipality performed the national anthem of Türkiye. The event was dedicated to children both in Türkiye and throughout the entire world. END
