PH Ambassador to Canada Presents Credentials to Canada’s Governor General Mary Simon

OTTAWA 08 MAY 2023 – Philippine Ambassador to Canada Maria Andrelita S. Austria formally presented her Letter of Credence to Governor General Mary Simon of Canada in a stately ceremony held at the Rideau Hall in the afternoon of 28 March 2023.

Ambassador Austria also handed over to Governor General Simon the letter of recall of her predecessor, Ambassador Rodolfo D. Robles.

During the courtesy call, Ambassador Austria expressed appreciation to Governor General Simon for the warm welcome and reaffirmed the strength and vitality of the bilateral relationship between Philippines and Canada.

Ambassador Austria also conveyed that she looks forward to working with the Government of Canada to jointly address both countries’ shared interests and to contribute to the continued flourishing of Philippines-Canada partnership, as well as the promotion of the interests of 1 million strong and vibrant members of the Filipino diaspora that regards Canada as its second home.

Governor General Simon, in her remarks, expressed hope for the Ambassador to cooperate with Canada on issues of mutual concern, including climate change and empowerment of women and children.

At the ceremony, Ambassador Austria was accompanied by the Philippine Embassy's Deputy Head of Mission, Myca Magnolia M. Fischer, Consul General Jeffrey P. Salik, Third Secretaries and Vice Consuls Leo Marco C. Vidal and Mary Jaselle D. Menteer, as well as the Ambassador's spouse, Mr. Carlito Austria, daughter Ms. Abigail Beatrice S. Austria, and sister-in-law Ms. Maria Leah E. Austria.

Prior to her assumption as the Philippines’ top diplomat to Canada, Ambassador Austria served as Philippine Consul General to Vancouver and Assistant Secretary for American Affairs at the Department of Foreign Affairs. END
