PH Consul General in Los Angeles, Fil-Am Lakewood City Vice Mayor Discuss Collaboration

LOS ANGELES 09 April 2023 – Consul General Edgar B. Badajos, with Consul Francis Maynard S. Maleon and Political and Economic Assistant Edwin R. de Pacina, met with Lakewood City Filipino-American Vice Mayor Ariel Pe on 03 May 2023 as part of the Consulate General’s initiative to reach out to all Fil-Am elected officials who won during the November 2022 US midterm elections. He was accompanied by Lakewood’s Deputy City Manager Fil-Am Paolo Beltran.

The meeting was an opportunity to discuss potential areas for collaboration between Post and Lakewood City. These include trade and business promotions, sister-city arrangements and exchange visits with potential local government partners in the Philippines, senior citizen welfare, among others.

Consul General Badajos congratulated Vice Mayor Ariel Pe on his election and expressed the joy and optimism felt by the Filipino and Fil-Am community over his political success.

Vice Mayor Ariel "Ari" Pe was first elected to the Lakewood City Council in March 2020. After two years, he was elected as Vice Mayor on 12 April 2022. His term ends on March 2024. He is the first Filipino American elected official in the history of Lakewood City. On the other hand, Mr. Paolo Beltran is the first Fil-Am to hold the position as Deputy City Manager. END
