PH Takes Center Stage in Three Culinary Events in Belgium

Culinary Events in Belgium 1

BRUSSELS, 12 May 2023 – The Philippines will be the feature country in a series of major culinary events in Belgium, namely: The Streat Fest on 11-14 May 2023 at the Tour & Taxis Brussels; the Philippine Culinary Week from 7 to 10 and 12 June 2023 at the Sofitel Brussels Europe; and the Amazing Asia Festival on 23-25 June 2023 at Konijnenwei, Antwerp.

The Philippines is the first ever guest country to be featured in the Streat Fest Brussels, now on its second edition. Filipino chefs Jerome Calayag and Glenn Ramaekers, and Filipino-Asian restaurants Goodphil and Calamansi will introduce the varied flavors of the Philippines. There will be much to discover—from Philippine produce such as ube (purple yam), calamansi (Philippine lemon), and cacao; to street food such as fish balls and kwek-kewk; and restaurant fare such as lechon and sisig. Visitors can try various concoctions of Don Papa Rum with matching Philippine appetizers. Cooking enthusiasts may join culinary workshops and learn more about Philippine cuisine. More details on the event may be found at https://streatfest.be.

Those who wish to experience Philippine cuisine in a more formal setting may sample fine dining during the Philippine Culinary Week at Sofitel Brussels Europe. Innovative versions of well-loved Philippine culinary dishes will be prepared by acclaimed Filipino husband-and-wife chefs Rolando and Jacqueline Laudico. The event will run from 7 to 10 and 12 June 2023.

The third in this series of big events is the Amazing Asia Festival, with the Philippines as the Country of Honor. The event that caters to a wider audience will be held on 23-25 June 2023 in Konijnenwei, Antwerp. Philippine cuisine, food exports, culture, and tourism will be showcased. The Embassy will also organize B2B meetings on the sidelines for Filipino and Belgian entrepreneurs. For more details, please visit the website https://www.amazingasiafestival.be

The Philippine Embassy’s participation in these events is in collaboration with the Office of the Agriculture Attaché and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Brussels and with the invaluable support of the Department of Foreign Affairs. END
