GUANGZHOU, 12 May 2023 – The Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou, in celebration of the Filipino Food Month in April 2023, visited the first Filipino food truck, Ayos Philippine Bistro Truck, in Shenzhen, Guangdong to congratulate its Filipino owners, Mr. Mark Gil “Butchoy” G. Buenviaje and Mr. Joseph Rodriguez Matsuura, for recently bagging the 2022 That’s GBA Food and Drinks Awards for “New Restaurant of the Year” and “People’s Choice in Shenzhen” in March 2023.
Since it opened in 2022, Ayos continues to impress locals, foreign nationals, and Filipinos in Shenzhen and in the greater GBA. Located in the heart of the business area of Nanshan district, in front of Tencent headquarters, the food truck is a go-to of many locals and foreign nationals working in the area during lunch, dinner, and after-work hours. Ayos owner, Mr. Buenviaje, said that his guests love the taste of Filipino food and also look forward to Filipino bands who perform on weekends and Friday nights.
Many of the dishes are also very popular with local and foreign guests, particularly the sisig. The food truck employs Chinese chef and staff who were trained to prepare other Filipino dishes like tokwa’t baboy, pancit, dinuguan, embutido, sweet and sour tilapia, lumpiang shanghai, and leche flan, among others.
Mr. Buenviaje also shared their plans to open more bistro trucks or start a full- service Filipino restaurant incorporating in its program Filipino festivals and other cultural promotion activities. Post intends to feature Ayos in this year’s commemoration of the 125th Independence Day in June and also co-organize with them future PHL food and culture promotion in Shenzhen. END
