PH Embassy in Madrid Holds Art Workshop to Commemorate National Heritage Month
MADRID, 17 May 2023 – The Philippine Embassy in Madrid held an art workshop at the Sentro Rizal Library on 15 May 2023, to commemorate National Heritage Month. In partnership with volunteer teachers Phresy Logente Pangilinan, Maynalene Santiago-Respicio, Jo-an Duropan Salo, Ken Macuja Villaflor and Aira Cris Cedeño, participants were invited to design their own festival masks, ang were taught to make paper flowers, to highlight Bacolod City´s MassKara Festival and the Flores de Mayo and Santacruzan.
Consul General Mark Hamoy welcomed the participants to the Embassy, stating the importance of culture and the arts in promoting the Philippines abroad. Consul Carlyn Monastrial briefly described the significance of both the MassKara Festival and the Flores de Mayo, to acquaint participants, especially the kids, to Philippine traditions. Ambassador Philippe J. Lhuillier thanked the teachers for volunteering to lead the workshop, and awarded them certificates of appreciation for showing their bayanihan spirit and sharing their talents with the Filipino Community.
