OSLO, 24 May 2023 – Philippine Ambassador to Norway Enrico T. Fos met with Ms. Karoline Andaur, CEO of the World Wide Fund for Nature Inc. (WWF) – Norway on 15 May 2023 at the Philippine Embassy in Oslo to seek ways to strengthen environmental projects in the Philippines.

WWF is one of the world's most respected independent environmental organizations with a presence in around 100 countries and almost 6,000 employees.

Together with its Norwegian partners, WWF-Norway implements “Clean Ports, Clean Oceans: Improving Port Waste Management,” working towards reduction of plastic waste leakage in the ports of Manila, Batangas and Cagayan de Oro, and the project “An Ocean of Possibilities” working on the ground with cities in five pilot countries, through the Plastic Smart Cities initiative in partnership with several organizations, to encourage public and private efforts on preventing, minimizing and managing plastic. There are five target sites for Plastic Smart Cities in the Philippines, namely the City of Manila, Donsol in Sorsogon, Davao City, San Isidro in Davao Oriental, and Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS).

As environment, climate change and green transition are significant priorities in Norwegian development policy, Ambassador Fos and CEO Andauer agree to seek further opportunities on these significant areas in Philippines-Norway relations. END
