MEXICO 29 May 2023 – Philippine Ambassador to Mexico Lilybeth R. Deapera presented her credentials to Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) in a ceremony held at the Palacio Nacional on 25 May 2023.

Ambassador Deapera was one of the seven new Ambassadors who were accredited to Mexico. She was accompanied by Second Secretary and Consul Ralf G. Roldan.  Likewise in attendance was Mexican Minister of Foreign Affairs Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon.

In a brief téte-á-téte, Ambassador Deapera conveyed the best wishes of President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. to President AMLO and expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to be able to present her credentials, especially as the Philippines and Mexico celebrate the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2023.

The newly-accredited Ambassador then thanked the Mexican government for its support to the Philippines in different multilateral fora, and highlighted our country's commitment to work closely together with Mexico on issues of common concern, such as tourism promotion, the illicit drug trafficking, and environmental protection.

Ambassador Deapera has been serving as a career diplomat for 30 years.  Prior to her assumption as the third female Philippine Ambassador to Mexico, she was previously designated as Chair-Alternate of the Technical Cooperation Council of the Philippines and as Acting Assistant Secretary of the Maritime and Ocean Affairs Office, among others.  She was also assigned as Consul General of the Philippines in Macau, and served at the Philippine Embassies in Venezuela and the United Kingdom.

Building on the affinity she forged during her first stint at the Philippine Embassy in Mexico from 2007-2011, Ambassador Deapera endeavors to promote the national interests of the Philippines, improve economic partnership with Mexico, and to ensure the well-being of the more than 1,200 Filipinos residing in Mexico and in countries under the Embassy´s jurisdiction.
