BRASILIA 06 June 2023 – Philippine Ambassador to Brazil Joseph Gerard B. Angeles visited the C. Vale Cooperativa Agroindustrial in Palotina, Parana to meet with its President Alfredo Lang and members of his operations team on 29 May 2023, as part of the economic diplomacy program of the Philippine Embassy in Brasilia. C. Vale is a major exporter of chicken meat to the Philippines which is a top destination for their production next only to China.
C. Vale started in 1963 as a group of 24 farmers warehousing wheat. The adoption of a diversification and modernization plan under Pres. Lang in the 1990s saw C. Vale become a poultry complex. In 2017 it ventured into the production of tilapia, and this year is entering into the swine production industry.
Today, C. Vale has 13,668 employees under 26,216 cooperative member units. In 2022, the entire cooperativa agroindustrial generated a total revenue of R$22.693 billion (US$4.47 billion), with R$524 million (US$103 million) paid to the government in taxes.
C. Vale is an important partner of the Philippines in terms of food security and the availability of reasonably priced food for the Filipino consumer. END
