Philippines Promotes Tourist Destinations at 10th Maritime Silk Road International Expo

GUANGZHOU 08 June 2023 – Philippine Consul General to Guangzhou Marshall Louis M. Alferez led the Philippine participation at the 10th Maritime Silk Road International Expo (MSRE) held in Guangzhou on 02 June 2023. The theme of this year’s MSRE was “Opening Up and Cooperation, Sharing Opportunities”
At its country booth, which was designed by the Philippine Tourism Office in Shanghai, the Philippines featured the country’ various travel destinations, and promoted packaged tours and flights. Tourism materials, bags and souvenir items were given out to the visitors to the booth.
Consul General Alferez also attended the event’s opening ceremony, which was keynoted by Guangdong Vice Governor Zhang Xin and Guangzhou Mayor Guo Yonghang. Vice Governor Zhang lauded the MSRE’s admirable effort to hold the fair annually even during the pandemic and connect Chinese and foreign businesses with one another. Mayor Guo hailed Guangzhou as one of the starting points of the ancient maritime silk road and its transformation into an important economic hub of the Greater Bay Area (GBA).
This year’s MSRE saw the participation of 57 counties and regions, 25 of which are from Asia, 11 from Europe, and 10 from Americas. All 15 member-economies of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) were also represented at the Expo.
The MSRE has been regularly organized by Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangdong Committee (CCPIT Guangdong Committee), The People's Government of Guangzhou Municipality, and executed by Guangdong Board of Investment Promotion, Guangzhou Municipal Commerce Bureau, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangzhou Committee (CCPIT Guangzhou Committee), and China Foreign Trade Centre Group, Ltd.
