PH Ambassador Presents Credentials to the Grand Duke of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg

LUXEMBOURG, 13 June 2023 - Non-resident Philippine Ambassador to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Jaime Victor B. Ledda presented his Letters of Credential to His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg in a ceremony held at the Grand Ducal Palace on 07 June 2023. Ambassador Ledda was accompanied by his spouse, Mrs. Gina M. Ledda, Minister and Consul Susana Maria L. Mendiola, First Secretary and Consul Charles Andrei P. Macaspac, and Third Secretary and Vice Consul Ma. Filonila T. Alcaraz-Arguelles.
During his audience with the Grand Duke, Ambassador Ledda thanked Luxembourg for being one of the first states to recognize the Philippines after the country gained its independence in 1946, and that the Philippines looks forward to increased collaboration with the Grand Duchy in preparation for the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026. Ambassador Ledda also thanked the Grand Duke for Luxembourg’s recent support for Philippine candidatures to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Council for the term 2023-2026 and to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS) for the term 2023-2028.
The Grand Duke fondly recalled his visit to the Philippines in the 1990s for a princely economic mission as the Crown Prince then. The Grand Duke and Ambassador Ledda discussed political and economic developments in the Philippines and the region. The Grand Duke expressed interest in the resumption of CargoLux operations in the Philippines.
Ambassador Ledda took the opportunity to thank Luxembourg for hosting about 1,000 Filipinos, many of whom are professionals in the financial sector. The Grand Duke shared that Luxembourg appreciates the Filipinos’ presence and assimilation to society.
Both Grand Duke Henri and Ambassador Ledda reaffirmed to continue working to maintain the strong bilateral relations between the two countries. END
