PRETORIA 16 June 2023 – Philippine Ambassador to South Africa Noralyn Jubaira Baja met with Citrus Growers Association (CGA) of Southern Africa Chief Executive Officer Justin Chadwick on 09 June 2023.

While the meeting’s primary agenda was the existing citrus trade between the Philippines and South Africa, both sides also discussed and exchanged views on issues which have a significant impact on the countries’ two-way trade.

The meeting is aligned with the Embassy’s ongoing efforts to pursue engagements and leverage on its partnerships with relevant stakeholders in South Africa’s agricultural sector. During the 5th Philippines-South Africa Bilateral Consultative Forum held on 26 February 2023 in Pretoria, both sides have identified agriculture as an important area of bilateral cooperation.

The CGA represents farmers and other stakeholders of the citrus sector not only in South Africa, but also in Botswana, Eswatini, Namibia and Zimbabwe. Through its efforts, South Africa has begun exporting citrus fruits to the Philippines since June 2021. END.
