BEIRUT 20 June 2023 — The Philippine Embassy in Lebanon held an induction ceremony for Filipino Community (FilCom) groups on 11 June 2023. Led by Philippine Ambassador Raymond R. Balatbat, the oath-taking ceremony was held at the Collège du Sacré Coeur in Gemmayze, Beirut.

Around 300 members belonging to 16 Filipino community groups successfully registered and were recognized by the Embassy as legitimate organizations. In addition, two area coordinators also took their oath, renewing their commitment in helping the Filipino Community in Lebanon in times of crises and emergencies.

The Filipino community in Lebanon plays a significant role in promoting Philippine culture and further strengthening the bilateral relations between the Philippines and Lebanon. During the COVID-19 pandemic and the Beirut port blast in 2020, the Filipino community provided the much-needed assistance in reaching Filipino nationals who were affected.

In enjoining the FilCom groups to register and align their programs with the Embassy’s annual cultural activities, they will be the main contact for the effective coordination of initiatives that will benefit all the Filipinos working and residing in Lebanon.

The Embassy continues to accept FilCom group registrations and commits to engage them in enhancing economic and cultural activities in Lebanon. END
