PH Consulate General in Frankfurt Strengthens Rizal’s Legacy During 162^nd Birth Commemoration Rites

FRANKFURT 22 June 2023 — The Philippine Consulate General in Frankfurt, with the Knights of Rizal, graced the commemoration rites of Rizal’s 162^nd birth anniversary, on 19 June 2023 at the Rizal Park in Wilhelmsfeld. Philippine Consul General to Frankfurt Marie Yvette L. Banzon Abalos joined Wilhelmsfeld Mayor Tomas Dangel and the members of the Knights of Rizal in a wreath-laying ceremony. The Philippine Male Singers serenaded the attendees with their Filipino, German and international ensembles.

In her remarks, Consul General Banzon Abalos emphasized the strong historical connection of Wilhelmsfeld and Heidelberg with Jose Rizal and the Philippines, and thanked the members of the Knights of Rizal in Germany for keeping Rizal's stories and the souvenirs alive. In October 2011, Wilhelmsfeld and the City of Calamba entered into a sister city agreement. END
