20 June 2014 - On May 12, Philippine Non-Resident Ambassador to Sri Lanka Vicente Vivencio T. Bandillo presented his letter of credentials to President Mahinda Rajapaksa inside the ceremonial hall of the Old Parliament Building in Colombo.  The President requested the support of the Philippines in properly informing its Government and citizens about the progress and peaceful situation in Sri Lanka. 

Ambassador Bandillo congratulated President Rajapaksa on the advancement that is evident not only in the economic progress of the country but also in its infrastructure development.  The Ambassador also thanked Sri Lanka for its help to the Philippines in the aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) and expressed his hope that Sri Lankan Airline will soon fly the Colombo-Manila route.  The officials of the President’s Office replied that this would be studied after the delivery of the new aircrafts they have purchased.  END
