PH Ambassador Presents Credentials to the Federal President of the Republic of Austria

Ambassador Evangelina Lourdes A. Bernas hands over her Letters of Credence to Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen

VIENNA 23 June 2023 - Philippine Ambassador to Austria Evangelina Lourdes A. Bernas presented her Letters of Credence to Austrian President Dr. Alexander Van der Bellen on 20 June 2023 at the Maria Theresia Room of Hofburg Palace in Vienna. 

During the presentation of credentials, President Van der Bellen conveyed his warm greetings to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and thanked the Filipino healthcare workers in Austria for their contribution to his country’s healthcare system. In her response, Ambassador Bernas expressed the Philippine Government’s gratitude to the Austrian Government for ensuring the wellbeing of Filipinos in Austria and pride in the contributions of Filipinos and Austrians of Filipino descent in Austria’s development. 

Ambassador Bernas also briefed President Van der Bellen on ongoing bilateral talks to conclude two labor agreements on the deployment of Filipino healthcare workers at the federal provincial level, and another agreement at the federal state level on the deployment of skilled Filipino workers to Austria.  

Both sides looked forward to further strengthening bilateral relations in several areas of cooperation.

Ambassador Bernas also expressed hope that she could continue her personal advocacy on the conservation of the environment in Austria.  END
