PH Embassy, Department of Education, Commission of Filipinos Overseas, Conduct Assessment of Philippine Schools in Rome

ROME 26 June 2023 — A composite delegation from the Commission of Filipinos Overseas (CFO) and Department of Education (DepEd) led by CFO Secretary Romulo V. Arugay made a courtesy call on Philippine Ambassador to Italy Neal Imperial on 13 June 2023.

The team, headed by CFO Secretary Arugay, was composed of DepEd Assistant Secretary Cesar Bringas, and other members of the Inter-Agency Committee on Philippine Schools Overseas (IACPSO) Secretariat Director Marita D. Apattad, Ms. Benilda R. Pereyra and Ms. January Danielle T. Sanchez were in Rome to conduct an ocular inspection of two Philippine schools in Rome applying for accreditation as Philippine Schools Overseas (PSO).

Ambassador Imperial underscored the necessity of having duly-accredited Philippine schools in Italy, especially in Rome and Milan, where most of the Filipinos are located during the courtesy call. He noted that there is a growing number of second-generation Filipinos in Italy who should be encouraged to learn more about the Philippines, so that they could imbibe Filipino values and be encouraged to help support socio-economic projects in the Philippines and promote Philippines-Italy relations.
