PH Consulate General in Barcelona Recognizes Dr. Andrew Tan with Champion of Filipino Excellence Award

BARCELONA 27 June 2023 - The Philippine Consulate General in Barcelona proudly presented the Champion of Filipino Excellence Award to Dr. Andrew Tan in recognition of his outstanding contributions in raising the Philippine brand abroad, especially in Spain. The award ceremony took place during the grand celebration of Philippine Independence Day at Moll de la Fusta, Port Vell on 11 June 2023 dubbed, “Mano Po: Una Gran Celebracion del Patrimonio Filipino.”

Dr. Andrew Tan, a visionary leader and business tycoon, has played a pivotal role in promoting the Philippines in Spain, with his Emperador Distillers and Emperador Properties, as well as the presence of Megaworld International in the country. His investments in Spain have contributed to Philippine economic growth and also elevated the country's reputation internationally. Dr. Tan has successfully established a strong presence for Philippine brands, making a significant impact in showcasing the excellence of Filipino innovation, and entrepreneurship to the world.

Consul General Maria Theresa S.M. Lazaro, with Philippine Ambassador to Spain Philippe Lhuillier, presented the esteemed award to Dr. Tan, who was represented by Ms. Maria Victoria M. Acosta, Executive Vice President of Megaworld International, and Mr. Jorge Domecq, Chief Executive Officer of Emperador Properties. Their presence at the awarding ceremony highlighted the strong partnership and collaboration between the government, private sector and the Filipino community in fostering economic growth and promoting the Philippines as a prime investment destination.
