PH Consulate General Joins Philippine Heritage Month Celebrations in Lethbridge and Spruce Grove, Alberta

CALGARY 29 June 2023 – With various towns and cities in Canada observing the Canada-wide Philippine Heritage Month this month, Philippine Consul General to Calgary Zaldy Patron joined the Filipino communities in Lethbridge and in Spruce Grove, Alberta, in their celebrations of the month-long event.

In Lethbridge, members of the Filipino community, led by the Filipino-Canadian Association of Lethbridge Alberta (FCALA), held the 3rd Lethbridge Filipino Heritage Festival at the Henderson Lake Park on 18 June 2023.

Gracing the event with Consul General Patron were Alberta Minister of Affordability and Utilities Nathan Neudorf and Lethbridge Deputy Mayor John Middleton-Hop.

The following week, on 25 June 2023, the Spruce Grove-Stony Plain Filipino Canadian Association organized its 2nd Annual Philippine Heritage Celebration at the Jubilee Park in Spruce Grove.

Aside from Consul General Patron, the government officials who joined the celebration in Spruce Grove included Member of Parliament Dave Lloyd, Alberta Minister of Children and Family Services Searle Turton, Spruce Grove Mayor Jeff Acker, Stony Plain Mayor William Choy, and some Councilors of the City Councils of Spruce Grove and Stony Plain.

“I am grateful to the various Filipino community organizations and members of the public who gave importance to the Philippine Heritage Month this June and organized different events across Alberta and Saskatchewan to celebrate their Filipino identity, culture and heritage,” said Consul General Patron.
