PH Consulate General in Vancouver Joins “Pinoy Festival” in Burnaby

VANCOUVER 03 July 2023 – The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver, led by Consul General Arlene T. Magno, joined the Filipino community in Burnaby in commemorating the Filipino Heritage Month in Canada at the Civic Square in Burnaby, British Columbia on 24 June 2023.
The Pinoy Festival, organized by the Burnaby Filipino Cultural Society, the Pinoy Festival Alliance and the Mabuhay House Society, saw thousands of attendees and brought together over 50 Filipino organizations and interest groups. The Festival showcased Filipino cuisine, products and artisans as well as food trucks. The event also included cultural performances by various Filipino community organizations and a Santa Cruzan featuring gowns created by local and international Filipino designers.

After the parade of colors by different Filipino organizations, Consul General Arlene T. Magno addressed the attendees. She urged the community to remain united to ensure that the voices of the Filipinos are heard and that their stories are told.

Officials from the Province of British Columbia, led by Premier David Eby and Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley, made an appearance at the Pinoy Festival. During the program, Premier Eby joined Igorot’s Sissiwit Dance and announced that the BC Government is committed to getting the Filipino provincial cultural center built. END
