PH Ambassador Ensures Readiness of Embassy in Abu Dhabi for Seamless Transition and Continued Service to Overseas Filipinos

ABU DHABI 04 July 2023 — Philippine Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Alfonso A. Ver delivers his opening remarks at the joint training session between the Assistance-To-Nationals (ATN) Section of the Philippine Embassy and the Office of Migrant Workers (OMW) in Abu Dhabi on 30 June 2023, emphasizing the continuing need to hone and perfect the delivery of services to distressed Filipinos amidst the challenges around the globe.
Ambassador Ver highlighted that the joint activity organized by the ATN Section of the Philippine Embassy under the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the OMW under the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) follows the principle of the one-country-team-approach, where all the different offices under the Philippine Embassy have a common and unified goal, which is the provision of utmost service to Overseas Filipinos at all times.
With the creation of the DMW, this new department is mandated to be a one-stop-shop responsible for the provision of services to Overseas Filipinos, especially those in distress and requiring assistance.
The DMW and its respective OMWs in the various Philippine Embassies and Consulates around the world will henceforth provide ATN services. Thus, the above activity, where the Philippine Embassy’s ATN Section shares with OMW its experiences, skills and know-how, ensures that there will be a seamless transfer of these functions, such that there will be no disruption in the delivery of services.
Vice Consul Regatta Escutin and Assistant Labor Attaché Jesus Vicente Magsaysay III echoed the pledge made by Ambassador Ver, that both their respective offices and staff will ensure that the attention and care that the Philippine Embassy gives to each Filipino with a pressing need shall not diminish, and will only heighten with the above developments.
