12 July 2013 - Acting Head of Post and Consul Edgar Tomas Auxilian and Consul Maria Paz Cortes of the Philippine Consulate General in Agana, Guam, welcomed US Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division (US DOL-WHD) Regional Administrator Ruben Rosalez from the San Francisco Regional Office, District Director Terence J. Trotter from the US DOL-WHD Honolulu District Office and Assistant District Director Patrick Candoleta of the US DOL-WHD Guam Field Office.

The visiting officials discussed the US DOL's interest to formalize the existing cooperation between the Consulate General and the US DOL-WHD, particularly its partnership in educating Filipino workers and immigrants in Guam regarding their rights under US labor laws. 

Since 2007, the US DOL-WHD Guam Field Office has been participating in the Consulate General's Post Arrival Orientation Seminars.  As such, the US DOL is looking into formalizing this alliance through a memorandum of agreement to be signed between the Consulate General and the Honolulu District Office.
