Philippines, UNOCHA Discuss Strengthening Cooperation

GENEVA 10 July 2023 – The Philippines discussed its support for and partnership with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) on humanitarian emergency preparedness and response, including for displaced persons and people in vulnerable situations, during a meeting between Chargé d’affaires, a.i. Kristine Leilani R. Salle and UNOCHA Coordination Division Director Ramesh Rajasingham.
Ms. Salle reaffirmed the Philippines’ support for the UNOCHA through consistent voluntary contributions and active collaboration in Geneva, New York, and Manila. She also conveyed the Philippines’ advocacy of expanding international financial support for humanitarian organizations beyond traditional donors, as well as tapping the potential of and providing more assistance for middle-income and developing countries.
The Philippines is recognized as one of the 64 Member State donors to UNOCHA, having provided voluntary contributions to the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF), several country-based pooled funds, and emergency appeals. END
