PH Ambassador Presents Credentials to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran

TEHRAN 12 July 2023 — Philippine Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran Roberto G. Manalo presented his Letter of Credence to Iran President Ebrahim Raisi at an official ceremony held at the Presidential Building in Tehran on 09 July 2023.

During the official ceremony, Ambassador Manalo formally presented his Letter of Credence as well as his predecessor’s Letter of Recall, both documents earlier translated into Farsi language. President Raisi read through the Farsi translation of the Letters before engaging the Ambassador in an exchange of views on the current status of bilateral relations.

Ambassador Manalo conveyed to President Raisi the greetings of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and thanked him for his acceptance of his credentials and the opportunity to further expand bilateral relations during his tour of duty. The Ambassador also conveyed to President Raisi his initial plans for the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Philippines-Iran bilateral relations in 2024.

President Raisi extended his cordial greetings to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., and encouraged the Ambassador to continue building on the excellent bilateral relations of the two countries. The Iranian President is pleased that the bilateral relations have remained friendly and cordial, and wishes that this be further enhanced and expanded, especially in the areas of economic, trade and business cooperation.

The Iranian President also conveyed appreciation that the Philippine Embassy plans to hold a series of events that will celebrate the 60-year anniversary of Philippines-Iran bilateral relations next year. END
