PH Embassy Co-Hosts Environmental, Social and Governance-Focused Filipino Tech Meetup in Copenhagen

COPENHAGEN 12 July 2023 – The Philippine Embassy in Denmark co-organized the second Filipino tech community meetup for 2023 in collaboration with Ernst and Young (EY) and Filipino-led non-profit organization, Underrepresented Youth Learning Assistance Program (ULAP), on 06 July 2023. The meetup focused on sustainability and the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) approach in business.

Philippine Ambassador to Denmark Leo Herrera-Lim shared the importance of creating a lasting impact and building better life on earth amidst the global sustainability challenges. He underscored the importance of raising awareness on the immense talent of Filipino IT professionals and generating respect for our people and our country. He conveyed that the growing friendship between Filipinos and Danes are based on shared values on democracy, human rights and human dignity.

During the event, EY’s Mika Aldaba shared insights on the value of creating impact from data-driven ESG. Julia Spicina, also from EY, presented how data can be utilized to raise employee productivity, improve talent satisfaction and achieve social leadership. Treesable’s Marcel Ale discussed his ESG-focused startup which aims to empower tree farmers and improve traceability and accuracy of carbon emission offsetting certificates. END
