GENEVA 13 July 2023 – The Philippines discussed with the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) on 11 July 2023 on how to further strengthen collaboration in disaster response and risk reduction, at a meeting between Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., Kristine Leilani R. Salle and IFRC Director for Partnerships and Resource Development Department Melker Mabeck.
Ms. Salle acknowledged the important role of the IFRC and national society Philippine Red Cross (PRC) in complementing government response to recent typhoons and other natural disasters, especially in providing support for humanitarian response and disaster recovery efforts. She expressed the Philippines’ willingness to continue its partnership with the IFRC in Geneva and in Manila, not only on emergency response, but also in bringing attention to shared priorities such as climate change and disaster displacement.
