Philippines Assumes Chairmanship of ASEAN Committee in Rome

ROME 14 July 2023 - Philippine Ambassador to Italy Neal Imperial received the rotating chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Rome (ACR) from Vietnamese Ambassador Dung Hai Hung during a hand-over ceremony held at the Philippine Embassy in Rome on 12 July 2023.

Ambassador Imperial conveyed his appreciation to Ambassador Dung for his able stewardship of the Committee during Viet Nam's chairmanship over the past six months. He also presented the proposed program of activities of the ACR under the Philippine chairmanship, such as the celebration of the ASEAN Day on August 08 and the ASEAN Family Day. The ACR Ambassadors and Chargés d'Affaires expressed their support for the Philippine Ambassador.

The ACR is composed of six ASEAN member states which have Embassies based in Rome namely, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam. The Philippine Embassy in Rome will chair the Committee from July to December 2023. END
