Filipina Athletes Featured in United Nations Exhibit

GENEVA 21 July 2023 – Filipina athletes Ms. Hidilyn Diaz and Ms. Alex Eala were featured in an exhibit showcasing the excellence and achievements of women in sports all over the world, during the United Nations Office at Geneva’s (UNOG) photo exhibition entitled “Not a Woman’s Job?: Breaking Barriers in Sports” held at Palais des Nations.
The exhibit featured photos of women athletes who have made history and contributed to breaking barriers in sports, including action shots of Olympic gold medalist weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz and champion tennis player Alex Eala.
“The Philippine government will continue to advocate for inclusion and gender equality in sports,” Consul General Felipe F. Cariño III stated. “Our well-admired athletes such as Ms. Diaz and Ms. Eala have convinced the Philippines and the international community that we must fully support women in sports.”
Diplomats, officials from the United Nations and the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and sports enthusiasts paid tribute to women athletes whose dedication have contributed to women empowerment, challenging gender stereotypes in sports. END
