Newly-Designated Chinese Consul General Zhao Xiuzhen pays Courtesy Call on DFA Mindanao Assistant Secretary

DAVAO 17 July 2023 – Newly designated Consul General Zhao Xiuzhen of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Davao City, accompanied by Consul Hong Ming, paid a courtesy call on DFA Mindanao Assistant Secretary Renato Pedro O. Villa on 12 July 2023. Consul General Zhao arrived in Davao City in June 2023.

Consul General Zhao was born in June 1966 and hailed from Beijing. She started working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), People’s Republic of China in 1988 and was continuously assigned in Poland from 1990 until 2012, the last as Consul General of China in Gdańsk. She is married with one son.

Developments in the BARMM region, enhancement of economic and cultural cooperation with Mindanao, including the proposed reactivation of Davao-Jinjiang flight, importation of Davao durian and other fruits to China and the Samal Island-Davao City connector project were discussed during the call.

Consul General Zhao replaced former Consul General Li Lin. She hopes to further enhance the relationship between PH and China and boost cooperation in trade, tourism and investment. END
